In Adams County, the Colorado Master Gardener volunteers are a dedicated group of 30 volunteers that provide gardening information to the Adams County community.

  • Colorado Master Gardeners are available at the Adams County Extension Office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, April through September

Field Calls - For issues not easily diagnosed without seeing the big picture, local Colorado Master Gardeners assist with field calls within their areas or expertise.

Question and Answer Booths - Colorado Master Gardeners answer questions and give out information at a variety of community events including:  The Adams County Fair, Eco-Fair (Brighton), Harvest Days (Brighton), Culture Fest (Brighton), Thornton Fest, Brighton Arbor Day, the Garden and Home Show, Anything Library Garden Talks, NRCS Seedling Tree Sale and Avaya Employee Appreciation Day.

Speakers Bureau - Local Colorado Master Gardeners are available to speak on a variety of horticulture related topics.  For More information call 303-637-8100

CMGs working on demonstration gardenDemonstration Gardens - Adams County Colorado Master Gardeners have designed and maintain several demonstration gardens.

  • Perennial Garden - Located to the west of the Waymire Building this is a mature perennial garden featuring a variety of plant species.
  • Xeric Demonstration Garden - The Xeric Demonstration Garden, located directly north of the Waymire Building, was designed and installed by Adams County Colorado Master Gardeners in 2009.    This garden demonstrates the wide array of attractive plants available in the low water use plant pallet.  The garden features plants promoted by the Plant Select™ program.  In 2011, it won the Showcase Garden Award from the organization for “exceeding the programs expectations through creation and maintenance of an exceptional public demonstration garden”.

Education for CMG Volunteers

  • CMG Basic Training is offered by a multi-county partnership with Boulder, Adams, Larimer and Weld Counties.
  • The daytime course is held on Fridays, January through March at The Ranch (Larimer County Fairgrounds in Loveland)
  • The evening course is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, September to December in Boulder.
  • Adams County Extension offers CMG volunteers a variety of continuing education opportunities.
  • Advanced Diagnostic Training classes are offered regularly during the summer in conjunction with other counties.
  • Monthly “skill sharpening” talks organized by the county staff.
  • Other educational opportunities include: ProGreen, Colorado State University Short Course and Field Day, and Educational Field Trips
